Who is NOM Handcrafted?

Hi, I'm Eryn, and I'm the founder, maker and CEO behind NOM Handcrafted. Andrew is my other half, and together we are a husband and wife team, working from our shed in Dayboro, QLD, Australia.
Andrew makes sure the shed runs smoothly, cutting and sanding each piece carefully. I'm in charge of the shaping, carving, painting, sealing and packaging. We're a true blue family micro business, living our dream of bringing quality, beautiful handmade wooden toys to families all over the world.

What are your toys made from?

We use certified, sustainably sourced American hard maple timber, sourced locally. Maple is extremely durable, light in colour, feels great in your hand and is prone to stunning grain. Maple does not splinter easily and doesn't contain toxic extractives, unlike some other available timber varieties.

What paints and sealant do you use?

All our coloured products are lovingly hand painted with toy-certified and child friendly water-based (watercolour) paints. They adhere to EN71 and AS/NZS 8124.1 and are safe for children.

We use a hardwax oil to seal our pieces, a natural and water resistant combination of wax and oil which sets in a matte finish for grip and durability.

Please note that while the finishes we use are completely non-toxic and safe to be mouthed, we don't recommend them for mouthing/chewing children. Timber will show teeth marks and moisture can penetrate after prolonged exposure to saliva, which can lead to mould.

Can I find your products in store?

We have a collection of amazing stockists, some of which do operate bricks and mortar stores. Please refer to our Stockist page for more information on where you might be able to purchase our toys in person.

Do you offer wholesale?

Yes, we do! However, as we are only a two-human micro business, our capacity to take on new stockists varies based on our existing workload. Please email us if you are interested in becoming a stockist.

Do you offer Educator Discounts?

We LOVE supporting early and primary education through open-ended and imagination based play. If you're a teacher or early educator, please don't hesitate to reach out via email.

Do you take custom orders?

You can find our custom listings under our Custom Pieces tab. If you have any troubles or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out via email.

How is my order shipped?

We ship all orders from our home in Dayboro, QLD, within 1-5 working days. All orders are shipped through Australia Post and a tracking number is generated for every order.

We opt for sustainable and reusable packaging - you order may not fit the 'unboxing' stereotype, but we put a lot of love and care into making sure your order arrives safe, sound and without impacting the planet with unnecessary packaging or plastic.

We use:

In home shredded paper - you can reuse this in small world play, for other packaging, or as an excellent garden mulch.

Brown cardboard boxes - no added inks or plastics, reusable for storage or shipping, or in the garden.

Tissue paper - perfect for recycling or popping into the compost.

If you happen to receive a parcel with plastic products in them, please know that this is us recycling plastics from packages we have received. You are welcome to use or dispose of them as you wish.
